[Once again it's night time, and once again Kaneda will get a call from Teddie. An actual call this time, not a text right off the bat.
Should he choose to answer it, though, he won't be greeted to the usual obnoxious voice that is the bear. No, instead he will get the soothing sound of an actual bear roar right in his ear.
[He was wondering when Teddie would call. Hell, it happens so often that some nights he just waits for Teddie to call and then go to sleep. Saves him the trouble of getting woken up. But not this time--he was exhausted from the past few days, and flops down on his bed to get some shut eye.
He’s almost to the part where he drifts off when...ah, there it is.
Sleepily, he answers, putting the comm to his ear and sitting up. ….and holding it at arms length when the roar sounds. No change in expression, no nothing. Just that.]
There's a terribly long pause on his end as he tries to comprehend Kaneda's response. No no, that's all wrong. Where's the surprise? The shock and awe? Teddie's been practicing this all night - sorry roomies - Kaneda can't just crush his dreams like that!]
Wha-What was that? Can't you at least pretend to be the tiniest bit surprised? Yeesh...

That's normal.]

[Give him a moment to process this, Teddie.]
...
[A few more seconds...]
Wait. KUMA?!
