... huh?

[That stops his rant dead in the water. His chewing slows, the food suddenly not tasting quite as appetizing as it had a second ago. Almost, but.. not quite. Tetsuo swallows.]

Her power?

She said it was her power here when she asked me to keep it a secret. I thought it was stupid--everyone's got powers, right? Why'd I have to keep that secret?


But...


If THIS was what her power was...I can see why she'd say that.

But... I thought her power was...

[People can have more than one power here, though. Doesn't Kaneda? Doesn't Tetsuo? That argument holds nothing; he drops it pretty quickly.]

That's a bullshit power.

You're telling me. I'll talk to Sabriel and see. If anyone knows about...this, it's her.

[He gently moves Tetsuo to come sit down at the table.]

I won't say it's Hazel.

[Tetsuo, thankfully, isn't even considering resisting being maneuvered. He'll sit, sure. Whatever.]

Why her?

[Tetsuo, for his part, barely knows a thing about Sabriel. She showed up at Nonah 05 once in the middle of the night. He fought her, and then tangentially in the same battles she did, and she dealt with Pan in ways he didn't really like (ie, not agreeing Pan ought to face the same fate Tetsuo had). He's lucky he can put a face to the name, and that's only after having discussed her for a while beforehand.

She's not also a walking corpse, is she? Is that a common thing? Is that just something people get?]

Back home, she's trying to stop people from doing that to the dead.

[He'll be brief about Sabriel's own past, too, what little he knows about it.]


She can bring people back too, but she doesn't.

[Judging by the way he's taking another bite of this already, he clearly hates it.]

I don't care if she can do that!

[He's not really letting what Kaneda's saying sink in beyond the words themselves, then.]

She didn't do it, probably... and it already happened. There's nothing to stop anymore!

That's not what I mean...!

[He rubs his neck, trying to put this in a way Tetsuo can understand.]

It means she knows the rules!! If anyone would know how these rules work, it's someone who can make it happen.


And maybe she'd know what to do.

[Tetsuo scowls harder but he doesn't fight that. He gets what Kaneda's saying once he takes a second to think instead of give gut reactions only.

But he's still not sold.]

Fine, I get it... So how you gonna ask her something like that without spilling?

[That takes some thought, reaching over to break a piece off of one of those onigiri. Nothing too big, but he's starving.]

It's her job back home...and she just got back from a trip back there.



She sounded like she wanted to talk to me about it.
