Dipper and Mabel are strong! They're really strong... but they were normal. They were still somebody's kids. [They should be the ones being protected. Unlike SEES, or the Capsules, who didn't have anybody to turn to anyway.]
[Usually, Ken would have something smart to say. Some thoughtful word about how he'd pretend not to hear anything. Some joke to ignore that anything was said.
This time, he can't find the hear to make either comment, or even to keep talking. There was a halt, but it was one that derailed the whole train.]
... I guess it's hard to say there's anything that's ever truly good, or evil.
[He appreciates the lack of...prodding. It hadn't meant to come out, and truthfully, as much as he WOULD trust Ken with it...Tetsuo was a very curious person. And should he find that out...in ANY way...]
Sorry.
[But he stirs his food with his chopsticks, thinking it over.]
I fought--well, I guess fight's not the right word--I saw something that was kind of like your Nyx. Not good or bad...people sure thought he was bad, though.
This guy, though...you think he is? The one from Dip's...
I think it's ultimately us people who decide among ourselves what's good and what's bad. The universe functions the way it does without regard for justice or morality, but people have hearts, and they get hurt, and they feel that what hurts them is bad.
Nyx was awakened, and Nyx arrived to bring an end to the world, because of Erebus. Erebus was born from all of our hearts -- because... because so many people lost sight of what it meant to be alive, and we unconsciously sought death. We fought and tried to stop them, but neither of them did anything just to hurt us.

[He's got a point there. It's easy to fight when you're so used to knowing you could die any day.]
What are they fighting?

A real demon?
[He won't question its existence, he's the last one to deny supernatural things, but...]
No wonder you're spooked.

We had to fight something undefeatable too, but Nyx was never evil.

[He stops right there, freezing in place, eyes widening.]

[It's not just about humans then, right? Hearts are complex, but even without them...a world gone is a world gone, isn't it?
Or...Was it more complicated than even THAT? Now his head hurts, and it shows in the way his hair becomes matted in his fingers.]
Life was so much easier when I just fought rival gangs.

[He sighs, stuffing his hands into his pockets.]
Even when you were fighting your rivals, both sides think they're doing what's right or best for their side, right?

It seems good to them...and to them, we're the bad guys.

[He sighs again.]
But their demon is still... he's a bad guy. He only wants to harm them.

Wonder if it's that simple.
no subject
He's bad to a lot of us.
