[ Where Kasumi's roguish nature comes through is in the way she would suggest letting any of the million other heroes around deal with stopping Tetsuo; but she's figured that Kaneda's not that kind of guy. ]

Sleepovers are totally fine. That sounds fun, even.

You could have a wild rager with your teenage friends while-- [ while your dads are out on a date ] while the others are out grabbing groceries.

[You thought right, Kasumi. If there's one thing Kaneda can do, it's take responsibility for things.

Tetsuo's our friend, not yours. If someone's going to kill him it's going to be us!

So you're suggesting...a party?

I do believe I'm suggesting a party, yes.

[ You can practically hear the teasing smirk in her voice. ]

Or something more low-key, like another movie night. Maybe with less pissing Ken off or tossing Peter around the room.

I just...I should be still out there.

[ There's a little bit of a pause on her end as she tries to think of what to say. What can she say, and how could she possibly help from the other side of the world? She knows that if she were in that position, she'd probably be trying to get out and do something, too. ]

I know. You're worried about Tetsuo-kun, right? He's one of your own and he could be in trouble.

[ A beat. ] Why don't you try asking Bull and Charlie to help you? I'm sure they'd rather do that than have you run around at night on your own. Nonah and Heropa aren't too bad, but some of the other Porter cities are less... friendly.

[ Maurtia Falls, for instance. Kasumi knows (very intimately) from her near-nightly illegal vigilantism/Robin Hood-ing that place could be bad news. Especially considering what's gone on in the last few months. ]

Or if you need someone to look around Maurtia Falls with you, you could wait until I get back.

[ And no, Kaneda, she is not asking you out on a date. ]

More like he's causing trouble.

[His voice is curt, his accent curling into those words at that part.]

Bull's on the look out for him, but--

[His brows furrow at mentioning Maurita Falls. Kasumi might not have meant it, but there's a little bit of hurt pride there.]

I grew up in Neo Tokyo, you know. Dangerous cities are all I know. It's the friendly ones that I don't trust.

[But at the mention of her joining him...his voice perks up. Almost immediately.]

[ She hadn't meant it, of course; Kasumi has no real way to compare Neo Tokyo to any places she's been in, or to Maurtia Falls. Though she understands the meaning in his words, she'd rather be around if he's going to be snooping around there. ]

Good, then. I'll be away for a few more days. After that, I'm all yours.

[ Again, not... in the way that sounds. ]

[Oh Kasumi, you're too good, even if he doesn't know it.]

[ Just, you know. Said casually. No big deal. Just being a jet-setter. Whatever. ]

[ No worries, bro, she has him on speaker phone in her hotel room. So he might have startled the people in the next room over, but who cares? Kasumi, meanwhile, pretty much has to stifle a laugh. ]

Volume, Kaneda-kun. Want me to bring anything back?

[No volume went out the window the moment you said Japan.

There's some weird gibberish over the feed, maybe a word in Japanese or two before--]

[Probably a plane, dumbass.]

[ Kasumi is probably definitely doing something relaxing like drinking wine and doing her nails to the sounds of Kaneda's floundering about with his words on the phone.

Vacation mode is awesome. ]

I got tickets and hopped onto a plane, silly.

[ With a fake passport and tickets bought with money stolen from rich drug lords in Maurtia Falls, probably, but hey! ]

[Vacation mode does sound pretty awesome Kasumi. He wonders what that's like oh wait you left him there!]

And you didn't invite me?? That hurts, Kasumi.

[A soft 'phoomph' as he falls back on his bed.]

[ Because they can't hit the bars like they have been if the kiddies are around! ]

[ And then she's quick to follow-up with: ] I'm sure Ken would love to see what Japan's like, too.

[His voice draws out, as if Kasumi had promised him the world. A trip to Japan just the two of--

Don't sound so disappointed. It'll be fun! Japan's pretty different here.

You don't have to tell me twice. Apparently, Neo Tokyo doesn't even exist here.

It's still just Tokyo.


[Which Kaneda was never alive to see, so new experiences all around!]

Yes, it's... a little strange, actually. It's not as advanced as I would have thought it would be for being in the 21st century. But I guess you'll just have to see it for yourself sometime, hmm?

Of course. And Tetsuo, too.

Maybe this way Charlie and Bull can enjoy a few days without you guys around.

He's got to come home first, you know.

[That tone gets a little sad, albeit trying to keep it together.]

But when that happens...yeah, why not. It'll take his mind off of things. Like thinking.

Sounds like that would be good for him, yeah? I hope he comes home. And if not, I'll help you find him. Sometimes you need someone who's really good at hiding to help find someone, you know?

I want to surprise him, though. As a 'Hey, you're staying in this house whether you like it or not' gift.

If there's one thing I know, is that he'll be for one hell of a lecture from Ken.

[ Kasumi's been on the receiving end of that. It was not a fun time. Ken is a scary old man sometimes. ]
