[It's after a few conversations with the people who had messaged him that Riku realizes he's stuck upstairs and that his pigs need someone to come and talk to them. Nike can feed them, but since the only way he can go down there is with great effort, he'd rather avoid it. Not just that, but he feels weird not saying something about the fact that he straight-up died.]
Hey.
Can you come and look after my pigs for the next couple of days?
[He's not sure for how much longer his powers will be out, so he doesn't specify quite how long.]
Just as long as it's not soup-based so I don't have to lean over it
[That is, no noodles.
He doesn't want to talk about recent events over text, honestly. Not outright. Euphemism, certainly -- but not blatantly. It just feels wrong, typing it out.]
I'll be in my room when you get here, you can just let yourself in.
[After that, Kaneda cuts communication, walking out of Nonah 05 onto his bike and out for something to get Riku to eat. It's always best to ask questions over food, it made it seem like you're not just there to hound for answers. And truth be told, with everything going on that week, Kaneda still had to check up on a few of his friends.
Riku being one of them, and the only one other than someone from Nonah 05 he would go out and buy food for first. Grabbing some burgers and fries, he hooks the bag around his handlebars and takes off for Nonah, whipping through the porter as fast as their paperwork would let him, down the streets that led to it, and through the familiar path of quiet streets that led to Riku's house.
Yamada sits outside, and Kaneda gives him a nice little pat and a rub of his snout (and maybe a few fries too, he's responsible) before heading back in to go check up on his friend.]
Can't go anywhere else, [comes his voice from upstairs. Riku's sitting, like he has been for the last few days, in his bed. He's not gonna go too far, especially not after the first time, when he went out on the deck to see Kagami and ended up overexerting himself. He's pretty sure he could have easily died there again.
He waits until Kaneda's in the doorway before speaking up, eyebrows raised. His hair is still in the ponytail Kururu put it in yesterday, and the shirt he's got on is unbuttoned so as to make for easier access to the bandages across the majority of his stomach. He looks -- not a hundred percent, but he's certainly not the mess he was the last couple of days.]
[This is certainly a surprise to Kaneda, brows raised high up on his forehead and his lips puckering up into a 'oh shit' look. How--]
How long was I gone? Is this what happens when I let you out on your own?
[He smiles, though, walking over and dropping the bag in his lap, making sure to avoid any of those bandaged areas. He of all people would know how much it sucks to recover.]
Burgers, fries, the works.
And yeah, there's an S at the end of that sentence.
[Riku scoots so he can sit against the headboard, moving the pillow out of the way, then paws curiously through the bag. He takes a box of fries, then examines the burgers, trying to figure out which is his.]
[Riku's been expecting this, naturally. He wasn't under any illusions about what Kaneda's reaction might be. But he didn't factor in the part where he has no powers and can't get out of bed, and can't stop him from stomping off right now if he decides to do so.]
Kaneda.
[His voice is quiet, and he sets down the burger he'd been unwrapping.]
He just evened the score. I'm not -- I'm all right.
[Oddly he doesn't feel angry about it himself. He waves one hand, trying to illustrate the situation.]
When it happened, I... he was crying. I don't think he thought he had any choice in the matter. He's not nearly such a good actor.
